YEAR 2008 – SAGA BAHARU

The SAGA sedan which has its exterior and interior designs completely renewed also was awarded a 4-star safety rating by the ASEAN NCAP. The research which cost PROTON a whopping RM150 million was claimed to be relatively low by recycling past models of outgoing SAGA and also borrowing equipment from other models.

Trivia: This is the third generation of Proton Saga.

 

YEAR 2009 – EXORA 

EXORA was Malaysia’s first home-grown MPV. It was also PROTON’s first model to use the new CamPro CFE turbocharged engine and CVT technology.

Trivia: PROTON first sketches of MPV dated back till the 1990s, that’s probably when EXORA debuted on paper.

 

YEAR 2010 – INSPIRA

Rebadged version of the Mitsubishi Lancer as fair technology sharing, the Inspira was introduced as a more affordable alternative to own one of this four-door compact saloon.

Trivia: It was sold as the 9th generation of rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer and had over 1,100 booking orders in the first week it was announced.

 

YEAR 2012 – PREVE

Claimed to be the natural successor of the Wira, the PREVE became the first Proton Car to be awarded full 5-star safety rating by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) of Australia and New Zealand and also received a 5-star rating from the Malaysian Vehicle Assessment Programme (MyVAP) of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety (MIROS).

Trivia: The name PREVE means to prove or proof.

YEAR 2013 – SUPRIMA S

Endorsed by Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad – it was also awarded with many 5 star safety ratings and was sold in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia.

Trivia: The name SUPRIMA S meant Suprima Sport, essentially model after compact hatchbacks.

 

YEAR 2014 – KOMPAK / PROTON IRIS

Introducing the spiritual successor of Proton Savvy – Proton Iriz. The Iriz is Proton’s 1st five-door B segment hatchback which has the ‘Vehicle Dynamic Control’. This is aim to prevent and minimize risks of a potential accident which echo Proton’s spirit in producing high-quality cars.

Trivia: Iriz is inspired and meant for sight and vision.
